Why Russ and Riz?

APWU Local 197 belongs to its members, not a small inner circle. Russ Seibert and Riz Alminar are running because leadership should be earned through action, integrity, and results – not political alliances, favoritism, or silence when members are under attack. This election is about protecting members, treating union dues as a sacred trust, and empowering stewards. Russ and Riz represent proven strength paired with fearless advocacy, bringing decades of experience and a track record of success.

Members are tired of wasted union money, leadership that's too weak when confronting management, broken promises, and unreturned calls or emails. We know the frustration of powerful stewards being decertified for 'too many grievances' and leadership prioritizing personal interests over member needs. Russ and Riz will change this. We will establish checks and balances within union leadership, adhering strictly to local and national constitutions and labor laws. We will not back down to management and commit to timely responses. No more squandering union funds on connected friends; solidarity will be our focus, and every steward will be fully supported. We will empower, not sideline.
